Matt James is currently an accomplished veteran multi-instrumental /singer / songwriter who started his love for music at an early age. His instrument of choice was the drums and was influenced by a variety of artists, most notably Neil Peart of RUSH and many others. He has won multiple drum competitions and was notably one of the best drummers in the Twin Cities. He has learned to play a variety of other instruments throughout his career. 

 

He has played with a variety of well known National Artists such as: Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger), Bonnie Raitt, Fergie Frederiksen (Toto), Brian Bart (Dareforce), Jason McMasters & Danny Aaron (Dangerous Toys) and Teri Tims (Onyxx) etc…

 

Matt currently just released his debut Country CD entitled "Gunfighters"from his label Osiris Music Works.

 

Matt’s last band was NATIONAL OVERDRIVE, which he played drums for, finished their EP “Welcome to the Nation” and the advanced single “Motivator”, and spent 3 months on the MWR Top 20 Charts. The CD hit 300+ radio stations across the US as of Tuesday April 5, 2011 with the release of digital downloads in the weeks soon after. NATIONAL OVERDRIVE has also charted at #3, #21 and #25 on the CMJ (College Music Journals). The song “Determination”, written by Matt James, also charted at #10.

 

He had a successful short career with DOWNSIDE OF TRUTH as well, which climbed up the Minneapolis/St. Paul music scene in a short period of time with multiple appearances on 93X Radio, a Channel 6 music program "Minnesota Music" which featured the band, and numerous magazine articles. He has also toured parts of the US with numerous bands, signed to the independent label, OSIRIS MUSIC WORKS (formerly Osiris Records).

 

Matt has played drums for his past bands such as: SUCKA PUNCH, NATIONAL OVERDRIVE, BURIED BY HOPE, DOWNSIDE OF TRUTH, STRICKEN, SOULCAGE, DECADE, MARK ROSS AND THE RHYTHM JUNKIES, RAINMAKER, LEIGH CATES, ONYXX, MAXX FACTOR, DANGEROUS TOYS, E.T.A, FURY AND SATIN BLACK.
